Patchy, blocky-looking screens and color shift are common problems in full color LED displays. Tiny deviations in diode color tones and brightness are the primary cause of this unattractive problem. ChromaColor Calibration is a state of the art 96-bit image processing system that corrects for these deviations, resulting in a smooth, bright, and vivid image quality without color shift or loss of brightness. ChromaColor Uniformity Control adjusts each diode to consistent levels so that all the reds, greens and blues are uniform. Heat kills diodes. The number one cause for loss of brightness in and LED display is heat damage. Solar heat gain can turn an LED display into a solar oven. Just one day in the hot summer sun can damage diodes prematurely reducing display brightness. Internally generated heat from power supplies and electronics can heat things up to dangerous temperatures. Thermal Rx constantly regulates the temperature inside of each Smart Pod module and inside of the main sign cabinet. Temperature regulated fans in the main cabinet circulate cool air in and heat out. Each SmartPod module contains two temperature probes and two fans which regulate the temperature inside of each module. Internal air flow is optimized to insure that every diodes is ventilated evenly--even in the corners of the modules where heat builds up. Additional protection from heat shields on the cabinet exterior protect the sign from solar heat gain. Should the sign overheat, alarms are sent to users via E-mail, text message, or to the operators desktop. Automatic emergency shut down protocols are engaged if the sign overheats beyond set limits. Thermal Rx protects the display from heat damage and insures that the sign will look good for years to come.

Most LED displays use power supplies that channel one power level to all of the diodes in the array, casting off the excess power through a process known as “resistance”. Red, Green, and Blue diodes each need different power levels. Radiant’s power supplies channel the proper amount of power to each diode group, reducing total power consumption by more than 25%. As an added benefit, Radiant’s power supplies generate less heat. Heat is the enemy of diode brightness, so heat gain inside of the display is reduced thereby extending lifetime brightness.

Smart Pod Modules with on-board processors -- an intelligent design.
Built in a weather-proof, modular form-factor, each Smart Pod module contains it's own intelligent on-board processor. Smart Pods are lightweight and small (about 12" x 12") so they can be configured into unlimited sizes and shapes. Featuring front and rear serviceability with auto-calibration, Smart Pods are easy to swap out. Servicing the display is about as simple as changing a light bulb. Should anything go wrong with the display, simply swap the Smart Pod module with a spare, then send the old one back to the factory for repair. Smart Pods on-board processor communicates with the EBOS operating system, constantly monitoring the sign for temperature, communication status, and diagnostics. SmartPods automatically diagnose operating problems and can send text message alerts to the technician’s mobile phone. Technicians know what parts are needed before they go on a service call, so there is no need to diagnose sign problems from atop a lift or while dangling mid-air in a bucket truck.
